How can you help improve the lives of children in Nova Scotia? Be there. It’s that simple. Your care, time and attention can give a child or teen a stronger future.
Becoming a foster caregiver is one of the most rewarding experiences and Nova Scotia needs more people to answer this call.

Based on feedback received from foster caregivers, children in care and social workers, we’re redesigning the foster care program to make sure everyone receives the support they need to thrive.
Help children and youth in your community today. Become a foster caregiver. Be there!
We are proud to recognize two exceptional foster families from the Western region for their remarkable dedication. Ardyth and Ervine Veinot (left) were honoured for 51 years of service, and Sharon and Roy Saulnier (right) for 50 years of compassionate care.
Foster caregivers like the Veinots and Saulniers provide safe, loving homes and the stability that kids and teens need to thrive. Their commitment highlights the vital role foster families play in shaping brighter futures for youth in care. We are incredibly grateful to foster families across Nova Scotia for your kindness and dedication.
Why we need You
Right now in Nova Scotia, there are more children who need help than there are foster caregivers to offer it. We need families in communities across the province. Having foster caregivers in every community means a child who needs one can stay in their home community, their school, with their friends and more. You can offer the stability, nurturing and attention that all children need to flourish.
